Vios overview
The Vios has been Toyota's small sedan in the Philippines since 2002, and the company is not ready to let the name go. When the new Ativ arrived in October 2025, Toyota Motor Philippines kept the third-generation Vios in showrooms as the cheaper choice. For 2026 the range is down to four 1.3-liter versions: J MT at ₱738,000, XE CVT at ₱780,000, XLE MT at ₱868,000 and XLE CVT at ₱908,000. The 1.5-liter versions are no longer listed.
Every 2026 Vios uses the same 1,329 cc four-cylinder with 98 hp and 123 Nm, paired with a five-speed manual or a CVT. That is enough for city driving and steady expressway cruising, less so for quick overtakes on provincial roads. The sedan is 4,420 mm long with a 42-liter tank. Ground clearance is 133 mm, lower than the Wigo or any crossover, so take speed humps, steep driveways and flooded streets slowly. The Vios is built at Toyota's plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
In 2026 the argument for the Vios is price. The XE CVT at ₱780,000 is the cheapest automatic sedan Toyota sells, ₱200,000 below the cheapest Ativ automatic. That gap covers a lot of fuel, insurance and PMS visits. What you give up is the newer platform: the Ativ has a 70 mm longer wheelbase, 160 mm of ground clearance and a hybrid option. Fleet buyers and families on a fixed budget will find the Vios hard to beat on cost. If you plan to keep the car for ten years, price an Ativ before you decide.
Who it is for: Buyers who want a proven, locally built sedan at the lowest possible price, including fleet and ride-hailing operators who care more about running costs than new features.

Toyota Vios FAQ
What is the difference between the Toyota Vios and the Ativ?
The Vios is the older third-generation sedan, now sold only with a 1.3-liter engine for ₱738,000 to ₱908,000. The Ativ is the newer model on Toyota's DNGA-B platform, priced from ₱916,000 to ₱1,198,000, with 1.3-liter, 1.5-liter and hybrid versions.
Is the Toyota Vios being discontinued?
Not yet. Toyota still lists four Vios versions after the Ativ launch, but it cut the range to the 1.3-liter engine. If you want one, check stock with your dealer, since a shrinking lineup can mean fewer colors and units to choose from.
Which Vios variant should I buy?
For city traffic, the XE CVT at ₱780,000 is the easy choice. The XLE versions cost ₱88,000 to ₱128,000 more, so ask the dealer to list what you get for that money before adding it to your loan.
