Dzire overview

The fourth-generation Dzire arrived in the Philippines at MIAS in April 2025 and is now Suzuki's only sedan here. It comes in two versions, both with a CVT and a Hybrid badge: the GL CVT Hybrid at ₱920,000 and the GLX CVT Hybrid at ₱998,000, or ₱970,000 and ₱1,048,000 in Visayas and Mindanao. At 3,995 mm it is short for a sedan, which helps when you hunt for parking in Makati or Cebu.

Power comes from a new 1,197 cc three-cylinder from Suzuki's Z series, rated at 80 hp and 112 Nm. A 12-volt mild-hybrid system with a small battery and motor-generator assists the engine and runs the automatic stop-start. The hardware is small, so expect modest fuel savings rather than any driving on electric power. Ground clearance is listed at 145 mm, and the tank holds 37 liters.

The Dzire's main draw is price. It sits between the old Toyota Vios (from ₱738,000) and the Toyota Ativ (₱916,000 for a manual, ₱980,000 for a CVT), and every Dzire is an automatic. The GL is the better value; the GLX adds ₱78,000, so ask what that buys before signing. With three cylinders and 80 hp, the Dzire is happiest in town and at steady expressway speeds. If you often drive with a full cabin up to Baguio or Tagaytay, a 1.3- or 1.5-liter sedan will feel less strained. And if a hybrid badge is part of the appeal because of number coding, read the FAQ below first: mild hybrids are a gray area.

Who it is for: Commuters and first-time buyers who want a new automatic sedan under ₱1 million and drive mostly in the city.

Suzuki Dzire FAQ

Is the Suzuki Dzire a real hybrid?

It is a mild hybrid. A 12-volt system assists the 1.2-liter engine and runs the stop-start, but the car always runs on its gasoline engine. It cannot drive on electric power the way a full hybrid can. Whether mild hybrids qualify for the number-coding exemption has been disputed, so check the DOE's list of certified vehicles before counting on it.

How much is the Suzuki Dzire in 2026?

₱920,000 for the GL CVT Hybrid and ₱998,000 for the GLX CVT Hybrid. In Visayas and Mindanao the SRPs are ₱970,000 and ₱1,048,000.

Dzire or Toyota Vios?

The Vios XE CVT costs ₱780,000 and has a 1.3-liter four-cylinder. The Dzire GL CVT costs ₱140,000 more and brings a newer design, a 1.2-liter three-cylinder and mild-hybrid stop-start.
