Wigo overview

The Wigo is the cheapest Toyota on sale in the Philippines, and for a lot of people it is the first new car they ever sign for. The current second-generation model comes in three versions: the 1.0 J with a manual at ₱615,000, the 1.0 E CVT at ₱690,000 and the 1.0 G CVT at ₱735,000. All three share one 998 cc three-cylinder engine rated at 66 hp and 89 Nm, driving the front wheels.

Those are small numbers, and that is the idea. At 3,760 mm long, the Wigo fits tight condo parking slots and narrow side streets that bigger cars avoid. The spec sheet lists 160 mm of ground clearance, which helps over speed humps and broken pavement, though no small car belongs in a flooded underpass during typhoon season. The 36-liter tank keeps a full fill-up affordable when pump prices climb. Where the Wigo struggles is on the expressway and on long climbs to Tagaytay or Baguio. With four adults and their bags aboard, the little engine has very little in reserve.

For most buyers the E CVT is the one to get. It costs ₱75,000 more than the J, and that money removes the clutch work from stop-and-go traffic. The G adds another ₱45,000, so ask the dealer to show you exactly what changes before you upgrade. It is a common car, which keeps parts and service easy to find even outside Metro Manila. If you drive alone or with one passenger in the city, it covers the basics well. If you often carry the whole family or spend weekends on the highway, look at the Raize or the Vios before deciding.

Who it is for: First-time buyers, students and city commuters who want a new car under ₱750,000 and mostly drive short trips in traffic.

Toyota Wigo FAQ

How much is the Toyota Wigo in the Philippines in 2026?

The SRP runs from ₱615,000 for the 1.0 J manual to ₱735,000 for the 1.0 G CVT, with the 1.0 E CVT in between at ₱690,000. Dealer promos can lower the cash price or the down payment, so ask for both figures in writing.

Does the Toyota Wigo come with an automatic?

Yes. The E and G use a CVT, a type of automatic without fixed gears. Only the base J has a manual gearbox.

Can the Wigo handle long drives outside Metro Manila?

It can, but plan for it. With 66 hp, overtaking on two-lane provincial roads and climbing long grades take patience, especially with four people on board. If you leave the city most weekends, a car with a bigger engine will be less tiring.
