APV overview
The APV is an old-school, van-shaped people carrier that has stayed in Suzuki's lineup for years because it does one job cheaply: moving a lot of people. Suzuki sells two versions, the 1.6 GA MT at ₱763,000 and the 1.6 GLX MT at ₱975,000. Visayas and Mindanao SRPs are ₱50,000 higher. It is one of the few rear-wheel-drive passenger vehicles left at this price.
The 1,590 cc four-cylinder gasoline engine has 91 hp and 127 Nm, sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual. There is no automatic. The APV is 4,230 mm long and 1,865 mm tall, with 180 mm of ground clearance, a 46-liter tank and seating for up to eight in the GLX. The tall, boxy body is what makes the eighth seat possible in such a short vehicle. The GA's seat count is not listed, so check it at the dealer if seating matters.
The GA is the basic, work-oriented version; the GLX costs ₱212,000 more and is the family model. At GLX money you are close to a Toyota Avanza 1.3 E MT (₱959,000), a newer design with front-wheel drive and seven seats. Choose the APV if you need the boxy cabin and the extra seat, run a small business or school service, or simply want the cheapest new eight-seater you can find. Keep in mind that 91 hp and a manual gearbox make it hard work in heavy Metro Manila traffic with a full load. Also confirm the current SRP before you sign: some listings still show older, lower prices.
Who it is for: Small businesses and large families who need up to eight seats and a simple manual van at a low price.
