Mazda3 overview
The Mazda3 comes in two body styles and two powertrains, and Mazda Philippines charges the same for the sedan and the Fastback hatchback. The 2.0L Sport costs ₱1,510,000 in either shape, and the 2.0L HEV costs ₱1,890,000. So the choice is simple: pick the body you like, then decide if the hybrid hardware is worth ₱380,000. Premium paints add ₱16,800 or ₱22,400, as on most of Mazda's range.
On paper, that is a hard sell. Mazda's HEV system is a mild hybrid that helps the 2.0-liter engine rather than driving the wheels on electricity, so the fuel savings in EDSA traffic will be modest, and ₱380,000 buys a lot of gasoline. The HEV also went up by ₱100,000 between Mazda's February and September 2026 price lists, while the Sport stayed put. Unless the dealer shows you HEV-only equipment you really want, the Sport is the better buy.
Both shapes use a six-speed automatic and a 51-liter tank and sit 135 mm off the ground, per ZigWheels. That is low for flooded streets in the rainy season, so think about your daily route. The sedan is 4,660 mm long; the Fastback is 200 mm shorter, which helps in tight parking, while the sedan has the conventional trunk. Rivals include the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis, and the BYD Seal 5 DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan costs far less at ₱948,000 to ₱1,048,000. If it is the Mazda3's looks that won you over, the Sport gives you the same body for less money. Test both shapes back to back if you can, ideally on the same day.
Who it is for: Buyers who want a compact car with a premium feel and are happy to give up some rear-seat space for the styling.

Mazda3 FAQ
What is the difference between the Mazda3 Sport and HEV?
Both use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a six-speed automatic. The HEV adds Mazda's mild-hybrid system and costs ₱1,890,000, against ₱1,510,000 for the Sport. Ask the dealer for both equipment sheets side by side before you decide.
Is the Mazda3 Fastback cheaper than the sedan?
No. Mazda Philippines lists both at the same price: ₱1,510,000 for the 2.0L Sport and ₱1,890,000 for the 2.0L HEV. Premium paints add ₱16,800 to ₱22,400.
Is the Mazda3 HEV exempt from number coding?
Don't assume it is. The HEV is a mild hybrid, and the DOE has said mild hybrids are not covered by the coding exemption, according to Philkotse. Confirm with the dealer before buying it for that reason.
