Emgrand overview
Geely sells the Emgrand in one version in 2026: the Luxury at ₱949,000, per ZigWheels. The cheaper S and Comfort trims sold in earlier years are no longer offered, so every Emgrand now comes with the top equipment level. Power comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder rated at 90 kW (121 hp) and 152 Nm, driving the front wheels through a six-speed automatic rather than the CVT used by many rivals.
For a sedan under ₱1 million, the equipment list is long. ZigWheels lists a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, cruise control, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera and a Bosch 9.3 stability control system. The body is 4,638 mm long, longer than typical subcompact sedans, and ZigWheels quotes a 500-liter trunk. Geely claims 41 percent thermal efficiency for the engine, a figure worth keeping in mind when fuel prices climb. ZigWheels lists four colors: Sky Gray, Gray, White and Dark Blue.
The trade-offs are ground clearance and resale. At 151 mm the Emgrand sits low for flooded streets, and resale values for Geely sedans are harder to predict than for a Toyota Vios or Honda City. Compare it with similarly equipped versions of those two before you decide. The BYD Seal 5 DM-i plug-in hybrid at ₱948,000 is now the other obvious comparison, since it costs about the same and can run on electricity for short trips. Test-drive both if you can. If you mostly drive in the city and rarely face floods, the Emgrand's size and equipment are its strongest selling points. As with any car, budget for comprehensive insurance and LTO registration on top of the price.
Who it is for: Sedan buyers who want a big trunk and plenty of screen tech for under ₱1 million.
