CX-5 overview

The third-generation CX-5 reached the Philippines in August 2026, and for now it comes in one form: the 2.5L AT AWD HEV Premium Plus at ₱2,495,000. It uses a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with mild-hybrid assist, a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. TopGear Philippines quotes 179 hp and 242 Nm, and the new body is 4,690 mm long according to launch coverage. That makes it almost 300 mm longer than the CX-30, so check your parking slot at home before you commit.

Mazda Philippines' president has said a front-wheel-drive HEV will follow, and TopGear Philippines expects it in 2027. No price has been announced, but a 2WD version should sit below the AWD car. If ₱2.5 million is a stretch and you don't need AWD, waiting a year could make sense. For now the Premium Plus is a single-choice package: you pick the color, and that's about it. Premium paints add ₱16,800 or ₱22,400.

There is a twist. Mazda's September 2026 list still includes a 2.5L AWD Sport at ₱2,050,000, which appears to be the outgoing second-generation CX-5 sold alongside the new one. It is ₱445,000 cheaper. If the newest design and tech don't matter to you, an old-shape unit could be the smarter buy while stock lasts. The new CX-5 also costs far more than the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i plug-in hybrid at ₱1,598,000, so its case rests on AWD, refinement and Mazda's cabin. As a mild hybrid it is also unlikely to get a number coding exemption, so treat the HEV badge as a small fuel-economy aid, not a registration perk.

Who it is for: Buyers who want a well-finished compact SUV with all-wheel drive and don't mind paying a premium for it.
