CX-8 overview

The CX-8 is Mazda's car-based three-row SUV, and it is still on the September 2026 Philippine list in two versions. The 2.5L Signature seats seven, uses front-wheel drive and costs ₱2,390,000. The 2.5L AWD Exclusive has six seats, with two captain's chairs in the second row, and all-wheel drive for ₱2,530,000. Both use a 2.5-liter gasoline engine rated at 187 hp and 252 Nm and a six-speed automatic, per ZigWheels. Premium paint adds ₱16,800 or ₱22,400.

It is the oldest design in Mazda's local SUV range and has no hybrid assist at all. For some buyers that is the appeal: a familiar, simple package with a 72-liter tank, 4,900 mm of length and up to 200 mm of ground clearance. Families moving up from an MPV get a lower, more car-like ride than a truck-based SUV such as the Fortuner or Montero Sport, and older passengers don't have to climb as high to get in.

The question is value. The Signature costs ₱105,000 less than the new-generation CX-5, while the newer CX-60 five-seater starts at ₱2,940,000. If you really need a third row, the CX-8 is the cheapest way into a three-row Mazda, since the CX-90 costs ₱1.44 million more. Ask about the build date of the stock you are offered and use it when you negotiate. For a big family on provincial trips, seven seats and a 72-liter tank may matter more than the age of the design, and that is the buyer the CX-8 still suits. Just check that the third row fits the people who will actually sit there.

Who it is for: Families who need six or seven seats but want a lower, car-like SUV instead of a truck-based one.

₱2,390,000 for the 2.5L Signature 7-seater and ₱2,530,000 for the 2.5L AWD Exclusive 6-seater, per Mazda Philippines' September 2026 price list.

Does the CX-8 come with a diesel engine?
