Santa Fe overview
The fifth-generation Santa Fe swapped curves for a boxy shape and a big, square tailgate, and it's one of the roomiest seven-seaters you can buy for around ₱2 million. HMPH lists five trims as of October 2026: 2.5 GL 8AT 2WD at ₱1,998,000, 2.5 GLS 8AT 2WD at ₱2,410,000, 2.5 GLS 8AT AWD at ₱2,540,000, 2.5T Calligraphy AWD 8DCT at ₱3,100,000 and the 1.6T Calligraphy HEV at ₱3,330,000.
HMPH quotes 194 PS and 246 Nm for the 2.5 gasoline, 281 PS and 422 Nm for the 2.5 turbo with its eight-speed dual-clutch, and 235 PS and 367 Nm for the turbo hybrid. CarGuide.ph lists the GL at 4,830 mm long with 177 mm of ground clearance, seven seats and front-wheel drive. The GL is the cheapest trim, and CarGuide notes it uses a temporary-type spare tire, which is worth knowing if you often drive far from vulcanizing shops.
The Santa Fe is a car-based SUV with a monocoque body, so it rides and handles more like a big car than the pickup-based Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Montero Sport or Ford Everest. That makes it more comfortable on city streets and expressways. The trade-off is that it isn't built for serious off-roading, and only the GLS AWD and Calligraphy trims send power to all four wheels. The GL is the value pick for families who mostly drive on paved roads. The hybrid suits heavy Metro Manila traffic and falls under the DOE's number coding exemption for full hybrids. The 2.5 turbo is the one to get if you want strong, smooth power for frequent long trips, but it costs more than ₱1 million over the GL, so drive both before you decide.
Who it is for: Families who want a roomy seven-seat SUV that drives like a car, with options from a ₱2 million gas model to a hybrid.
