CR-V overview
Honda Cars Philippines sells the current CR-V in three versions. The 1.5 V Turbo HuNT CVT costs ₱2,358,000, the 2.0 VX e:HEV ₱2,588,000 and the 2.0 RS e:HEV AWD ₱2,838,000. The turbo makes 190 PS (about 187 hp) and 240 Nm. The hybrids use a 2.0-liter engine with an electric drive motor that Honda rates at 184 PS and, on the RS, 335 Nm. The RS is the only CR-V here with all-wheel drive.
The interesting split is seating. The V Turbo is the only one with a third row, giving seven seats with a 50:50 split rear bench, though cargo space drops to 150 liters with all rows up. The two hybrids are five-seaters with about 581 to 589 liters behind the second row. All three get Honda SENSING, stability and hill start assist, hill descent control, knee airbags and a 15W wireless charger. The VX and RS add a 360-degree camera, and the RS has a panoramic sunroof. Ground clearance is 198 mm on the front-drive trims and 208 mm on the AWD RS.
At this money you can also buy a Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, Kia Sportage Turbo Hybrid or one of several Chinese plug-in hybrids, so the CR-V has to justify its price. Its arguments are a roomy cabin, a strong resale record for Honda SUVs and a hybrid system that suits Metro Manila traffic. The DOE has said full hybrids are exempt from number coding. If you need seven seats, the V Turbo is the only choice, and it's also the cheapest. If you mostly carry four or five people, the VX e:HEV is the sensible middle, and the RS mainly makes sense if you want AWD for trips up to Baguio or Sagada in the rainy season.
Who it is for: Families who want a roomy, well-equipped compact SUV, either with a third row for occasional use or as a full hybrid for daily traffic.
