Sportage overview
The Sportage is now sold in the Philippines only as a Turbo Hybrid. Kia Philippines lists two trims in November 2026: EX at ₱1,978,000 and SX at ₱2,098,000. Both use a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine and an electric motor with a combined 235 PS and 367 Nm, sent to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic. Kia claims up to 20.8 km/L in urban driving under UNR101 testing and up to 1,080 km on a tank.
The EX is already well equipped. Kia lists 18-inch alloys, full LED lights, a power tailgate, leather seats, dual-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a smart key, front and rear parking sensors with a rear camera, and cruise control. The SX adds the DriveWise driver-assist suite, a Harman Kardon sound system, a power driver's seat, a wireless charger and ambient lighting. Both carry a 17-inch steel spare. The brochure lists a 4,660 mm body and 181 mm of ground clearance.
At about ₱2 million the Sportage goes straight at the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, which has the same 235 PS rating and costs ₱2,290,000, and the Honda CR-V, which starts at ₱2,358,000. That makes the Sportage one of the cheaper ways into a full-hybrid compact SUV, and the DOE counts full hybrids as exempt from number coding. The ₱120,000 jump to the SX is worth it if you drive long distances, since the driver aids reduce fatigue on SCTEX and TPLEX. The EX is enough for mostly city use. Keep in mind it's front-wheel drive only, so it's built for paved roads rather than mud.
Who it is for: Families who want a well-equipped hybrid compact SUV that's coding-exempt and priced below the Honda CR-V.
