EV5 overview
The EV5 is a compact electric SUV that sits between the EV3 and EV9 in Kia's Philippine lineup. Kia Philippines lists two trims in November 2026: the GL at ₱2,318,000 and the GLS at ₱2,718,000. Both have a front motor with 217 PS (about 214 hp) and 310 Nm. The difference is the battery. The GL gets a 64.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack with 400 km of WLTP range, while the GLS has an 88.1 kWh pack rated at 550 km.
Kia's brochure lists a 4,615 mm body and ground clearance of 175 mm on the GL and 161 mm on the GLS, and Kia's brochure lists a 7 kW wall-mounted home charger. According to Kia's June 2026 price list, the charger comes with standard home installation coverage of up to ₱25,000, which takes a real cost out of switching to an EV. LFP batteries are also generally more tolerant of regular charging to 100 percent than some other chemistries, which keeps daily use simple.
The EV5's rivals are the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the BYD Atto 3 and the many Chinese electric SUVs now on sale. Its case is a roomy, family-sized body, a choice of range and a brand with an established dealer network. The GL is plenty for city commuting, and its 400 km WLTP figure covers several days of Metro Manila driving between charges. The GLS costs ₱400,000 more and makes sense if you often drive to Batangas, Pampanga or Tarlac and back without stopping to charge. As an EV, it's exempt from number coding under the EVIDA law, as the DOE has confirmed. Ask the dealer which features differ between the two trims, as Kia's brochure layout makes that hard to read.
Who it is for: Families who want a roomy electric SUV with a home charger included and a choice of battery size.
