Sonet overview
The Sonet is Kia's subcompact crossover and its best-value model on paper. Kia Philippines lists four trims in November 2026: 1.5 LX MT at ₱798,000, 1.5 LX AT at ₱948,000, 1.5 EX AT at ₱1,018,000 and 1.5 SX AT at ₱1,218,000. All use a 1.5-liter engine with 115 PS (about 113 hp) and 144 Nm. The manual has six speeds and the automatics use Kia's IVT, a CVT-type transmission.
Kia's brochure lists 205 mm of ground clearance, which is high for a car only 4,110 mm long, and a 45-liter tank. That combination makes the Sonet easy to park in the city while giving it more margin on flooded streets, rough barangay roads and the steep driveways of hillside subdivisions. The top trims get Kia's DriveWise driver aids, such as forward collision avoidance, lane keeping assist and driver attention warning, plus remote engine start, according to the brochure, which is useful for cooling the cabin before you get in on a hot afternoon.
The trim ladder is wide, so pick carefully. The LX MT matches the Soluto AT's price and suits buyers who want crossover height on a tight budget. The LX AT and EX AT cover most family needs. The SX is the one to get if you want the driver aids, but at ₱1,218,000 it runs into bigger crossovers like the Hyundai Creta and Toyota Yaris Cross. Rivals at the lower end include the Toyota Raize, Hyundai Venue and Suzuki Fronx. The 1.5 is adequate rather than quick, so a full load on the climb to Baguio will need patience. If you're torn between the EX and SX, find out exactly which driver aids each one gets, because ₱200,000 is a big gap to pay for features you might not use.
Who it is for: Small families and first-time buyers who want a compact crossover with high ground clearance for under ₱1.1 million.
