Elantra overview

The Elantra covers more ground than any other compact sedan in the Philippines. HMPH's October 2026 price list starts with the 1.6 GL 6AT STD at ₱1,158,000 and the 1.6 GL 6AT at ₱1,233,000. The hybrids follow, the 1.6 HEV GLS 6DCT at ₱1,530,000 and the HEV Premium at ₱1,730,000. Then comes the 1.6T N Line 7DCT at ₱1,795,000, and the separately listed Elantra N 2.0T costs ₱2,638,000 with a 6-speed manual or ₱2,738,000 with an 8-speed dual-clutch.

Outputs climb with the price. HMPH lists 128 PS and 155 Nm for the 1.6 gasoline and 204 PS and 265 Nm for the N Line's 1.6 turbo. The hybrid's engine makes 105 PS, helped by a 32 kW motor with 170 Nm, and HMPH says it can run on electric power alone up to 120 km/h. At the top, the Elantra N's 2.0 turbo makes 280 PS and 40.0 kgf·m (about 392 Nm), with rev-matching on the manual, electronically controlled suspension and 360 mm brake discs. Zigwheels lists a 4,710 mm body and 135 mm of ground clearance.

For most buyers the choice is between the 1.6 GL and the HEV. The GL is a roomy, conventional sedan that undercuts the Honda Civic by nearly ₱500,000. The HEV costs ₱297,000 more than the GL 6AT, but it uses less fuel in traffic and qualifies for the DOE's number coding exemption for full hybrids. The N Line suits drivers who want turbo punch without the N's price, while the N itself is a track-capable car for enthusiasts who will actually use it. Every version sits low, so be careful on flooded roads and steep driveways during the rainy season.

Who it is for: Sedan buyers who want a roomy compact at subcompact-like prices, plus hybrid commuters and performance fans who want the N.

Pros and cons

What we like on paper

  • Wide spread from ₱1,158,000 gas to the 280 PS Elantra N
  • Hybrid trims are coding-exempt and can run on electric power up to 120 km/h
  • Entry trims undercut the Honda Civic by a wide margin

What to consider

  • Low 135 mm ground clearance
  • Dual-clutch gearboxes on HEV and N Line can feel less smooth at a crawl
