Brio overview

The Brio is the cheapest way into a new Honda in the Philippines. Honda Cars Philippines sells two trims, both automatic: the 1.2 V CVT at ₱827,000 and the 1.2 RS Black Top CVT at ₱863,000. No manual is offered. Each uses a 1.2-liter i-VTEC engine rated at 90 PS (about 89 hp) and 110 Nm, and Honda quotes 19.6 km/L based on UNR-101 testing.

At 3,798 mm long (3,811 mm for the RS), the Brio slips into tight condo parking slots and through barangay roads lined with tricycles. The 35-liter tank keeps each fill-up cheap, though you'll stop more often on long provincial runs. The RS gets 15-inch alloys, a tailgate spoiler, power-folding mirrors and two extra tweeters, while the V rolls on 14-inch alloys. Both have a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD and parking sensors. On paper the safety list is thin for 2026. Honda's spec sheet does not list stability control, hill start assist or a reverse camera, and the rear brakes are drums.

Who is it for? Someone moving up from a motorcycle or an old used car who wants a new car with a warranty and Honda dealer support without going past ₱900,000. Put 25% down on the V and you'd finance roughly ₱620,000 through a bank or dealer chattel mortgage, before LTO registration, TPL and comprehensive insurance. Space is the trade-off. Four adults fit for short trips, but a full cabin plus luggage feels cramped, and the 1.2 needs a heavy right foot on long uphill stretches of the expressway. If you can stretch to about ₱1 million, the City S gets you Honda SENSING and a bigger trunk.

Who it is for: First-time buyers and city commuters who want a new, easy-to-park automatic under ₱900,000 and rarely carry a full load.

Pros and cons

What we like on paper

  • Lowest entry price in Honda's Philippine lineup
  • Short body is easy to park and thread through traffic
  • CVT on both trims and a claimed 19.6 km/L

What to consider

  • Basic safety on paper: no stability control, hill start assist or reverse camera listed, and rear drum brakes
  • Only 90 PS, so merging onto the expressway with a full load takes planning
