City Hatchback overview
The City Hatchback arrived in 2021 as Honda's five-door in this size class, and it got the same refresh as the City sedan in October 2026. Honda Cars Philippines sells a single trim, the 1.5 RS CVT, at ₱1,238,000. Under the hood is the familiar 1.5-liter i-VTEC with 121 PS (about 119 hp) and 145 Nm, driving the front wheels through a CVT. Honda quotes 25 km/L from the 2021 Honda-AAP Eco Run.
Because there is only one trim, the equipment list is generous. You get Honda SENSING with collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise and lane keeping assist, plus six airbags, a reverse camera and Honda LaneWatch, which shows the right-side blind spot on the screen when you signal. The 2026 update adds a 10-inch display, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming mirror, new 16-inch wheels and a reshaped rear bumper. The body is 4,373 mm long, about 20 cm shorter than the sedan, which helps when you're hunting for parallel parking in Quezon City.
The real argument for the hatchback is the tailgate. A big opening makes it easier to load a stroller, a balikbayan box or a week of groceries than through a sedan's trunk lid. The catch is price. At ₱1,238,000 it costs ₱60,000 more than the City RS sedan, and there's no cheaper trim if you just want the body style. Ground clearance is the same 134 mm, so it's no better than the sedan on flooded roads. If you mostly drive alone or with one passenger and like the idea of a sporty-looking five-door, it makes sense. Families who need the rear seat every day may find the sedan's longer cabin a better use of the money.
Who it is for: Urban drivers who want a well-equipped five-door with an easy-loading tailgate and don't mind paying a bit more than the sedan.
