Shark 6 DMO overview

The Shark 6 DMO is BYD's plug-in hybrid pickup, a very different idea from the diesel trucks that dominate the segment here. Two versions are listed: the Advanced at ₱2,388,000 and the Premium at ₱2,618,000. Both pair a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine, which mainly generates electricity, with a front motor (231 PS) and a rear motor (204 PS) for all-wheel drive and a combined 435 PS (429 hp). The powertrain hardware is the same in both versions.

BYD quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, 100 km of NEDC electric range from a 29.6 kWh battery and 800 km combined. The work numbers are 1,200 kg of payload, 2,500 kg of towing, 230 mm of ground clearance and 700 mm of wading depth, with double-wishbone suspension front and rear. At 5,457 mm long and 1,971 mm wide, it is bigger than a D-Max or BT-50, so check your garage and gate width. Curb weight is 2,710 kg, it seats five, and it rides on 265/65 R18 tires.

For business owners, the Shark 6 makes sense if most driving is short and repetitive, where electric running is cheapest, and if the truck also serves as the family car. For long hauls in the provinces with a heavy load, its gasoline-generator setup has a shorter local track record than a simple diesel. BYD has also run a free service campaign to replace the spare tire lifter assembly, so ask the dealer if a unit has had it done. As a plug-in hybrid it should qualify for the number coding exemption, which no diesel pickup gets.

Who it is for: Pickup buyers who drive mostly short daily routes, can charge at home or at a depot, and want the truck to double as a fast family vehicle.

BYD Shark 6 DMO FAQ

How much is the BYD Shark 6 DMO in the Philippines?

₱2,388,000 for the Advanced and ₱2,618,000 for the Premium, per the BYD Cars Philippines price list (SRP valid as of July 28, 2026).

Does the Shark 6 need to be charged?

No. The 1.5-liter engine generates electricity as you drive, so it works without plugging in, with 800 km of quoted combined range. Charging at home or at a depot lets you use the 100 km of NEDC electric range, which is where the running-cost savings come from.

What is the Shark 6 service campaign?

BYD Cars Philippines announced a free service campaign to replace the Shark 6 DMO's spare tire lifter assembly with an updated design. BYD advises owners who have removed and reattached the spare tire to take it off its hub until the new part is fitted, and dealers will contact affected owners.
