Triton overview

The current Triton went on sale here in January 2024, replacing the pickup older buyers still call the Strada. MMPC's August 2026 list has eight variants, all double cabs with the 2.4-liter 4N16 diesel. Prices run from ₱1,266,000 for the GL 2WD M/T to ₱2,359,000 for the Athlete 4WD A/T. In between are the GL 4WD M/T (₱1,292,000), GX 2WD A/T (₱1,430,000), GLX 2WD M/T and A/T (₱1,649,000 and ₱1,735,000), GLX 4WD M/T (₱1,949,000) and GLS 2WD A/T (₱1,999,000).

Top Gear Philippines lists two outputs: 181 hp and 430 Nm for the single-turbo engine in the GL to GLS, and 201 hp and 470 Nm for the bi-turbo in the Athlete (MMPC quotes 204 PS for that one). Gearboxes are six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. The truck is 5,320 mm long on a 3,130 mm wheelbase, with 222 mm of ground clearance and an 800 mm wading depth. The bed measures 1,555 mm long, 1,545 mm wide and 525 mm deep, and payload ranges from 985 kg to 1,115 kg depending on the variant.

Pricing has a quirk worth noticing. The GL 4WD M/T costs only ₱26,000 more than the GL 2WD, which makes it one of the cheapest 4x4 pickups you can buy new, as long as you can live with basic equipment. Business owners hauling goods on paved roads will be fine with the GL 2WD. The GX automatic is the cheapest two-pedal Triton. The GLS and Athlete add LED headlights and more comfort, and the Athlete is the one to get for power. Compare with the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Nissan Navara and Isuzu D-Max, and remember that White Diamond paint adds ₱15,000.

Who it is for: Business owners, farmers and weekend adventurers who want a modern diesel pickup, from a basic 4x4 workhorse to a well-equipped Athlete.
