Dolphin overview
BYD sells its compact electric hatchback, the Dolphin, as a single variant at ₱1,438,000. BYD Cars Philippines lists a 95 PS (94 hp), 180 Nm front motor, a 44.9 kWh Blade Battery and 405 km of range on the NEDC cycle. It does 0 to 50 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and in stop-and-go traffic that matters more than peak output. There is no second trim, so color is the main decision.
At 4,125 mm long it is a size up from the Seagull, and its 2,700 mm wheelbase is long for a hatchback, which should help rear legroom. The trunk holds 345 liters, or 1,310 liters with the rear seats folded. Ground clearance is 120 mm and the turning radius is 5.25 meters. It rides on 16-inch wheels with 195/60 tires, a common size that keeps replacement costs reasonable. Suspension is a MacPherson strut front and torsion beam rear, a simple setup that most tire and suspension shops know well.
The harder question is where the Dolphin fits in BYD's own lineup. The Atto 2 EV crossover costs ₱1,338,000, which is ₱100,000 less, with a stronger 177 PS motor and 150 mm of ground clearance. The Geely EX2 Max costs ₱1,038,000. That leaves the Dolphin as the choice for buyers who want a hatchback shape and the longest quoted range in this group. Compare it with the Atto 2 before you sign, and remember that as an EV either one is exempt from number coding under the EVIDA law. BYD's 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on the battery and motor also takes some of the worry out of a first EV.
Who it is for: City and suburban drivers who want a practical electric hatchback with more space and range than a city car.

BYD Dolphin FAQ
How much is the BYD Dolphin in the Philippines?
₱1,438,000 for the single variant, per the BYD Cars Philippines price list (SRP valid as of July 28, 2026). Provincial prices may be slightly higher.
BYD Dolphin or Atto 2?
The Atto 2 EV is ₱100,000 cheaper at ₱1,338,000 and has a stronger 177 PS motor, 150 mm of ground clearance and a 45.1 kWh battery rated at 380 km (BYD does not state the cycle). The Dolphin has a longer quoted range of 405 km NEDC and a hatchback shape. On flood-prone routes, the Atto 2's extra clearance is worth having.
Is the Dolphin good for long drives?
It can do them, but plan your stops. A 405 km NEDC rating means noticeably less at sustained expressway speeds, so a trip to Baguio or Bicol needs at least one charging stop and a check of charger locations along the way.
