eMAX 7 overview

The eMAX 7 is BYD's electric MPV, aimed at Filipino families who would otherwise buy a seven-seat gasoline or diesel MPV. There are two versions. The Standard seats seven and costs ₱1,548,000, with a 163 PS (161 hp) motor, a 55.4 kWh battery and 420 km of NEDC range. The Superior Captain seats six, with second-row captain's chairs, and costs ₱1,768,000, with a 204 PS (201 hp) motor, a 71.8 kWh battery and 530 km of NEDC range. That six-versus-seven-seat split is the first decision to make.

Both are 4,710 mm long with 170 mm of ground clearance, a multi-link rear suspension and 17-inch wheels. Cargo space is 180 liters behind the third row and 580 liters with it folded, so pack soft bags when every seat is taken. The Standard takes 10.1 seconds to reach 100 km/h and the Superior Captain 8.6 seconds. The 5.8-meter turning radius is manageable for a vehicle this size. Curb weight is 1,800 kg for the Standard and 1,895 kg for the Superior Captain.

For families who do the school run, weekday errands and the occasional out-of-town trip, the Standard's 420 km is workable if you can charge at home. The Superior Captain's bigger battery makes provincial trips easier, but you lose a seat. Compared with the Geely Okavango at ₱1,368,000, which seats seven and runs on gasoline, the eMAX 7 costs more to buy but should cost less to run, and as an EV it is exempt from number coding under the EVIDA law. Both versions are front-wheel drive, and BYD's 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty applies.

Who it is for: Families who need six or seven seats, mostly drive in and around the city, and can charge at home.

BYD eMAX 7 FAQ

How much is the BYD eMAX 7 in the Philippines?

₱1,548,000 for the Standard 7-seater and ₱1,768,000 for the Superior Captain 6-seater, per the BYD Cars Philippines price list (SRP valid as of July 28, 2026).

eMAX 7 Standard or Superior Captain?

The Standard seats seven and has a 55.4 kWh battery with 420 km NEDC range. The Superior Captain costs ₱220,000 more, seats six with captain's chairs, and has a 71.8 kWh battery with 530 km NEDC range and a stronger motor. Choose by seat count first, then by how often you drive out of town.

Can the eMAX 7 handle provincial trips?

Yes, with planning. NEDC figures overstate highway range, so map out charging stops on routes to the north or south, especially in the Standard. For frequent long trips, a plug-in hybrid such as the eMAX 9 DM-i or a gasoline MPV may be less stressful.
