Xpander overview
The Xpander is Mitsubishi's seven-seat MPV, imported from Mitsubishi's MPV plant in Indonesia, according to MMPC. It comes in three versions on the August 2026 price list: GLX 1.5G M/T at ₱1,099,000, GLX A/T at ₱1,159,000 and GLS A/T at ₱1,269,000. All share a 1.5-liter MIVEC gasoline engine rated at 105 PS and 141 Nm. The manual has five speeds and the automatic has four.
The seating layout is two, three and two, with a 60:40 split middle bench and a 50:50 split third row that folds flat, per MMPC. Ground clearance is 225 mm, high for an MPV, which is a real advantage when a typhoon leaves water on the road or when the route home includes rough provincial stretches. The GLX gets a 7-inch touchscreen, a reverse camera and cruise control. The GLS adds a 10-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Multi-Around Monitor, LED daytime running lights, and stability and traction control with hill start assist.
The weak spots are known. A four-speed automatic is old technology next to rivals with CVTs, and 105 PS feels stretched with seven people and luggage on the climb to Tagaytay. Still, the Xpander's practicality, ground clearance and wide dealer network explain its appeal to families. The GLS is worth the extra ₱110,000 over the GLX A/T if you want the stability control and 360-degree camera. The closest alternatives are the Toyota Veloz, Suzuki Ertiga and Nissan Livina, which shares its engine and much of its body with the Xpander. Quartz White Pearl paint adds ₱15,000.
Who it is for: Families of five to seven who want a roomy, high-riding people carrier under ₱1.3 million and value ground clearance over outright power.
