Carnival overview
The Carnival is Kia's big seven-seat MPV, and in 2026 it's one of the few in its class that still offers both a hybrid and a diesel. Kia Philippines lists three trims in November 2026: 1.6 EX Turbo Hybrid AT at ₱2,938,000, 2.2 SX AT diesel at ₱3,368,000 and 1.6 SX+ Turbo Hybrid at ₱3,548,000. Oddly enough, the hybrid is the cheapest way in.
Kia's brochure lists 202 PS and 440 Nm for the 2.2 diesel with an eight-speed automatic, and a combined 245 PS and 366.8 Nm for the 1.6 Turbo Hybrid with a six-speed automatic. Both are front-wheel drive. The body is 5,155 mm long on a 3,090 mm wheelbase, with 162 mm of ground clearance for the diesel and 172 mm for the hybrid. The diesel has a 72-liter tank. Dual power sliding doors and a power tailgate come standard, and the top SX+ Turbo Hybrid adds a head-up display.
For families choosing between a van and a three-row SUV, the Carnival's case is comfort. Wide sliding doors make it easy for older relatives to get in, and a van's second row usually has more space than a midsize SUV's. The EX Turbo Hybrid will suit most buyers: it's the cheapest, it uses less fuel in Metro Manila traffic, and as a full hybrid it falls under the DOE's number coding exemption. The diesel SX makes sense if you regularly carry a full load to the provinces and want the torque. Its main rivals are the Hyundai Staria and, at the luxury end, the Toyota Alphard. Do measure your garage first, because 5.15 meters is longer than most SUVs.
Who it is for: Families who carry adults in every row and want van-like space with sliding doors, plus a hybrid for city traffic.
