Rush overview
The Rush is a small seven-seat SUV with rear-wheel drive, which sets it apart from the front-drive Avanza and Veloz. Toyota Motor Philippines has narrowed the lineup to a single version, the 1.5 GR-S, at ₱1,208,000. The current second-generation model (F800) is a Daihatsu design, sold elsewhere as the Daihatsu Terios.
It runs a 1,496 cc four-cylinder with 102 hp and 134 Nm, driving the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic. That gearbox is dated next to the CVTs in the Veloz, and the engine works hard with seven people on board. The payoff is ground clearance: 220 mm, more than the Fortuner's 193 mm. The Rush is 4,466 mm long and carries a 45-liter tank. Fitting seven seats into that length helps on narrow streets, though the third row is best kept for children on longer trips. Apart from the commercial Tamaraw vans, it is the only rear-drive seven-seater Toyota sells under ₱1.25 million.
With one variant, buying a Rush is simple, and so is comparing it. The Veloz G CVT costs ₱14,000 more and brings a newer platform and transmission, while the Rush answers with higher clearance and rear-wheel drive. If your daily route includes unpaved barangay roads, steep driveways or streets that flood, the Rush makes sense. If it is mostly city traffic, the Veloz is the easier car to live with day to day. There is no cheaper manual Rush to fall back on; if your budget stops around ₱1.1 million, the Avanza 1.5 G CVT at ₱1,071,000 is the nearest Toyota seven-seater.
Who it is for: Buyers in provincial or hilly areas who need seven seats and high ground clearance in a compact body.
