Custin overview

The Custin is a midsize MPV that fills the gap between the Stargazer and the Staria. HMPH sells two trims: the 1.5T GLS 8AT at ₱1,770,000 and the 1.5T Premium 8AT at ₱2,080,000 (price list as of October 2026). Both use a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that Zigwheels Philippines rates at 168 hp and 253 Nm, sent to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic with Smart, Comfort, Eco and Sport modes.

At 4,950 mm long, the Custin is a big vehicle, about 37 cm longer than a Stargazer. That size goes into a seven-seat cabin designed to carry adults in all three rows, which is the main reason to choose it over a compact MPV. On paper, a turbo engine and eight gears should handle the climb to Tagaytay with the family on board better than the 1.5-liter compact MPVs can. Zigwheels lists a 58-liter tank and 174 mm of ground clearance, which is enough for typical city flooding but not for deep water.

The main question is whether you need it. If you carry seven adults often, the Custin's extra length and power earn their keep. If the third row is for occasional use, a Stargazer costs ₱392,000 to ₱652,000 less. The Custin runs on gasoline only, so budget for higher fuel bills than a diesel on long provincial drives. Its front-drive, car-based platform should also ride more like a car than body-on-frame vehicles do. The GLS is the value choice. The Premium makes sense if you want the extra comfort and convenience features, so ask the dealer for a trim-by-trim spec sheet before you decide.

Who it is for: Families who regularly fill all three rows with adults and want a smooth gasoline MPV for well under Carnival money.

Pros and cons

What to consider
