Sealion 6 DM-i overview
The Sealion 6 DM-i brought BYD's Super DM-i plug-in hybrid system to the Philippines in 2024, and BYD says it was named Car of the Year by local motoring media that year. It is sold as one variant at ₱1,598,000. A 1.5-liter engine (106 PS, 135 Nm) works with a 197 PS front motor for a combined 217 PS (214 hp) and 325 Nm, and BYD quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds.
The 18.3 kWh Blade Battery gives 105 km of electric range on the NEDC cycle, enough for most daily commutes, and BYD quotes 1,100 km of combined range. The body is 4,775 mm long with 173 mm of ground clearance, a 552-liter trunk and 19-inch wheels with 235/50 tires. BYD lists Stone Grey, Harbour Grey and Arctic White among the colors. Turning radius is 5.5 meters and curb weight 1,830 kg, and the brakes are ventilated discs front and rear.
It now has a direct rival in the Geely EX5 EM-i, which costs ₱1,288,000 to ₱1,468,000 with a similar 18.4 kWh battery and the same quoted 105 km of NEDC electric range. BYD's own Sealion 5 DM-i is ₱330,000 cheaper with a smaller battery. The Sealion 6's case rests on its size, its higher ground clearance, BYD's longer local track record with DM-i and the 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty. As a plug-in hybrid it should qualify for EVIDA perks such as the number coding exemption, a big plus for Metro Manila commuters. Ask the dealer for the latest SRP, since BYD has adjusted several prices during 2026.
Who it is for: Families who want a roomy plug-in hybrid SUV that runs on electricity for daily commutes and on gasoline for long trips.

BYD Sealion 6 DM-i FAQ
How much is the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i in the Philippines?
₱1,598,000 for the single variant, per the BYD Cars Philippines price list (SRP valid as of July 28, 2026).
How far can the Sealion 6 DM-i go on electricity?
BYD quotes 105 km on the NEDC cycle from the 18.3 kWh battery and 1,100 km of combined range. Expect less electric range in heavy traffic with the aircon on high.
Does the Sealion 6 DM-i need a home charger?
No. The engine can charge the battery, so it works like a regular hybrid if you never plug in. The low running costs come from charging at home, though, so most owners will want at least a dedicated outlet or wall charger.
