Who these pickups are for

In the Philippines a double-cab pickup often does two jobs. On weekdays it carries goods for a business or a farm, and on weekends it takes the family to the beach or the province. These five are the established names in the class, and each leans a different way.

Toyota launched a new-generation Hilux in mid-2026, and Ford reworked the Ranger lineup in September 2026, adding a V6 for the Wildtrak. The current Triton has been on sale since January 2024. The Navara and D-Max are older designs that have been facelifted.

Prices and variants

The cheapest versions are not always like for like. The D-Max starts lowest at ₱988,000, but that is the RZ4E 4x2 cab and chassis, a bare truck that needs a body built on it. At the top is the 3.0 4x4 LS-E AT at ₱2,394,000. The Navara runs from ₱1,240,000 (2.5 EL 4x2 MT) to ₱2,220,000 (2.5 PRO-4X 4x4 AT), and the Triton from ₱1,266,000 (GL 2.4D 2WD M/T) to ₱2,359,000 (Athlete 2.4D 4WD A/T).

The Ranger costs ₱1,379,000 for the XLS 2.0L Turbo 4x2 AT and ₱2,609,000 for the Wildtrak-X 3.0L V6 Turbo 4x4 AT. The Raptor is sold separately at ₱2,879,000. The new Hilux has the highest entry price, ₱1,772,000 for the 2.8 E 4x2 AT. Its diesel range ends at ₱2,611,000 for the 2.8 Conquest 4x4 AT, and the battery-electric BEV 4x4 costs ₱2,990,000.

Three prices tell you more than the ranges. The cheapest 4x4 is the Triton GL 4WD M/T at ₱1,292,000, only ₱26,000 more than the 2WD GL. The cheapest automatic is the Ranger XLS at ₱1,379,000. The cheapest 4x4 automatic is also a Ranger, the Sport 4x4 at ₱1,964,000, with the Navara VL 4x4 AT next at ₱2,090,000.

The lists date from July to November 2026. Mitsubishi's SRPs exclude freight and handling, and provincial Isuzu buyers pay shipping on top.

Engines and economy

The Ranger Wildtrak and Wildtrak-X have the strongest engine of the five: a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel with 247 hp and 600 Nm, a 10-speed automatic and full-time 4x4. Lower Rangers use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 168 hp and 405 Nm. The Hilux's 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV is rated at 204 hp, with 500 Nm when paired with the automatic and 420 Nm with the manual.

The Triton's 2.4 comes in two tunes: 181 hp and 430 Nm with a single turbo, or 201 hp and 470 Nm as a bi-turbo in the Athlete. Nissan quotes up to 190 PS and 450 Nm for the Navara's 2.5, but a 161 hp, 403 Nm tune is also listed, and we have not confirmed which variants get it. The D-Max has a 1.9 with 148 hp and 350 Nm or a 3.0 with 187 hp and 450 Nm, and every 4x4 D-Max gets the 3.0.

If you want a manual, cross off the Ranger, which is automatic only. The Hilux, Triton and D-Max offer six-speed manuals and six-speed automatics, and the Navara a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic. The Hilux BEV is the odd one out, with two electric motors, a 59.2 kWh battery and a claimed 315 km of NEDC range.

None of the five has an official consumption figure we can cite, so there is no fuel ranking here. Tanks are 80 liters for the Hilux, Ranger and Navara, 76 for the D-Max and 75 for the Triton. Nissan also lists a Navara Pro plug-in hybrid as coming soon, without a price.

Size, bed and payload

Every truck here is over 5.2 meters long, so condo and mall parking take care. The Navara is the shortest at 5,260 mm, then the D-Max (5,277 mm for the LS-A and LS-E), the Hilux and Triton (5,320 mm each) and the Ranger (5,370 mm).

Listed ground clearance is 279 mm for the Hilux, 240 mm for the D-Max LS-A and LS-E, 235 mm for the Ranger (242 mm on the Wildtrak-X), 230 mm for the Navara and 222 mm for the Triton. Treat the Hilux figure with care: it matches the old model's and may have been carried over. The Triton has a stated wading depth of 800 mm.

Bed size and payload are not in the spec table above, and we have them for only some of the five. If payload matters to your business, ask for the official figure for your exact variant.

Features and safety by trim

Ford's trim ladder is the clearest. Even the Ranger XLS has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and six airbags. The XLT and Sport add a rear camera, and the V6 Wildtrak and Wildtrak-X step up to a 360-degree camera, a knee airbag and Ford's driver-assist suite with adaptive cruise and blind-spot assist.

Isuzu saves most of its updates for the lifestyle D-Max trims: a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera with an underbody view and a built-in video recorder. The LS-E adds driver aids that use a stereo camera and rear radars, and 4x4 versions get a differential lock. The new RZ4E 4x2 LS AT has a reverse camera and stability control. Isuzu advertises seven airbags, but confirm the count on the cheaper work trims. The D-Max warranty runs 3 years or 100,000 km.

The Navara Calibre-X gets quad LED projector headlights, 17-inch gloss black wheels, Zero Gravity front seats in black leather, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the Triton, the GLS and Athlete add LED headlights and more comfort features. Our data doesn't yet list the new Hilux's equipment by trim, so get the spec sheet before comparing it with a similarly priced Ranger.

Which one should you buy

Our take: the Ranger has the best-documented equipment for the money, and the Triton is the cheapest way into 4x4. The Hilux costs more to get into, but it is the only all-new design of 2026. By buyer type:

  • If the truck is mainly a business tool on paved roads, the D-Max cab and chassis at ₱988,000 is the cheapest start if you need a custom body. Otherwise, the Navara EL (₱1,240,000) and Triton GL 2WD (₱1,266,000) are the low-cost manuals.
  • If you need cheap 4x4 for farm roads or river crossings, the Triton GL 4WD M/T at ₱1,292,000 has no real rival here, as long as basic equipment is fine.
  • If you drive mostly in Metro Manila and want an automatic, the Ranger XLS at ₱1,379,000 is the cheapest, and it already has six airbags. Get a quote on the D-Max RZ4E LS AT too: Isuzu's ₱1,549,000 introductory price (SRP ₱1,699,000) runs until December 31, 2026.
  • If the pickup is also the family car, the Ranger Sport 4x4 at ₱1,964,000 is the cheapest 4x4 automatic. The Navara VL 4x4 AT at ₱2,090,000 is the alternative.
  • If you tow or haul heavy loads uphill, the Ranger Wildtrak's V6 (600 Nm, ₱2,469,000) is the strongest. The Hilux 2.8 automatic (500 Nm) and the Triton Athlete (470 Nm) come next.
  • If you want an electric pickup, the Hilux BEV is the only one here, though its 715 kg payload limits it to lighter work.
